Frequently asked questions
Open the app via „Open app" (top) and choose „Sign up". You need an email address, a password and a display name — the latter shows others who a post is from. A self-chosen name is enough; no real name required.
On the sign-in screen tap „Forgot password?" and enter your email address. You'll receive a link to reset it.
In the app under Settings → „Delete account". All your data is removed. Details at Delete account.
In the app, open the Strava connection under Settings and follow the steps. You can then import tours from Strava.
In the same place in Settings there is „Disconnect". The connection is then removed on both sides.
Usually a matter of syncing: after connecting, it can take a moment for a tour to be imported. Also check that the tour is visible (not private) in the connected service. If it still doesn't appear, write to us with the date of the tour.
Integration with Suunto and Coros is in preparation. Once available, you'll find it in the same place in Settings.
Yes. In the map view under „Layers & maps" you can download a region; it's then available without reception.
The official maps of Austria (basemap.at), Switzerland (swisstopo) and South Tyrol / the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, plus OpenTopoMap and Tracestrack — with contour lines, slope angle and hiking trails. The focus is on the Alpine region.
Straight from the responsible services: GeoSphere Austria, the German Weather Service (DWD), MeteoAlarm and the EAWS avalanche bulletins (avalanche.report). Full sources under Licences & sources.
Then the source in question is currently unreachable. We show this in grey on purpose rather than an empty map — because an empty map does not mean „no danger", only „no data right now". When in doubt, check the issuing service directly.
Any signed-in user. Condition reports, hazard reports, photos and posts help those who are heading there. Report observations, not judgements.
In the app under Settings → Badges you can request verification. After review, a badge appears on your posts so others can judge where information comes from. Verification is voluntary and free.
Every post, report and message has „Report". Your report is reviewed; unlawful or dangerous content is removed. Alternatively by email to gipfelbuchalpin@gmail.com. The procedure is described in the Community Guidelines.
In the person's profile or directly in the conversation there is „Block". After that, neither of you can message the other.
